A short small-group tour that caters for adventurers and those who enjoy the adrenalin rush of the coastal area activities from sand-boarding to quad biking and skydiving amongst others. The magnificent sand dunes of the Sossusvlei offer wonderful views of the incredible Namibian landscape and on this tour you will have the chance to climb and explore this ancient area.

Itinerary

Day 1: Walvis Bay & Swakopmund
Pick up is from 7h15 and pre-departure meeting is at Chameleon Safaris Headquarters.

Overnight at Hotel A La Mer in luxury twin rooms with en-suite bathroom.

Lunch: Cold meats and fresh salads with bread rolls or soup and bread in winter

Day 2: Swakopmund to Namib Desert
This morning after breakfast we can join an optional activity such as the sand boarding which takes us into the coastal dune fields. We will be picked up from our guesthouse/hotel in Swakopmund at 11:15, for a brief pre-departure talk before departing Swakopmund. Afterwards we depart, we travel via Kuiseb Pass and Gaub Pass to continue on to Solitaire and our camp.

Overnight at Desert Camp in twin share rooms with en-suite bathroom.

Breakfast: Variety of cereals, yoghurt, fruit, cooked breakfast, toast, juice, tea/coffee

Lunch: Cold meats and fresh salads with bread rolls or soup and bread in winter

Dinner: A different dish each night – curries, pasta, braai (BBQ), stirfries etc

Day 3: Sossusvlei
We depart at dawn from camp to arrive at the park gate for sunrise. We drive down an ancient river bed surrounded by towering dunes to the 2x4 parking (around 55kms) and take a 4x4 shuttle into the Sossusvlei region. We explore this unique area on foot before heading into Dead Vlei with its large expanse of bleached cracked clay and skeletal camel thorn trees, contrasting with a backdrop of huge dunes with their ever-changing colours.

Breakfast: 3 varieties of cereal, yoghurt or bananas, toast with a choice of 3 toppings, tea/coffee

Lunch: Cold meats and fresh salads with bread rolls or soup and bread in winter

Dinner: A different dish each night – curries, pasta, braai (BBQ), stirfries etc

Day 4: Return to Windhoek
Early morning breakfast before heading to Solitaire where we jump onto an open vehicle and visit the local conservation project. Here they have a number of cheetah that are unable to be released for different reasons. This 1 hour activity allows us the chance to learn all about cheetah, the work done by local conservation projects, and get some incredible photos of the worlds fastest land mammal.
