Tour Overview

Departing from Paris, you will be driven to Port of Calais and arrive in Port of Dover by crossing the English Channel. You will continue the journey to London, starting a walking tour passing through the main attractions including: Big Ben, House of Parliament, Westminster Abbey, 10 Downing Street, Whitehall, St James’ Park, Buckingham Palace and River Thames.  After leaving London, our coach will bring you to the nation's acclaimed educational institution: Cambridge University to experience the strong academic atmosphere. Then you will proceed the journey to York by visiting York Minster and York city walls. Next places for you to visit will be Edinburgh, Lake District, Manchester, Stratford-upon-Avon, Bicester Village. At the end of the journey, you will be driven back to Paris.

  • A standard twin room will be booked during the tour but a double bed can be requested as well. 1 twin room will accommodate 2 adults and 1 child (2-11 who will not receive a separate bed). If this rule does not apply and you are traveling with children, then an adult fee will be charged
  • No triple rooms will be arranged for groups of 3 due to the limited amount of triple rooms in European hotels
  • Hotel details are provided 24-48 hours before the check-in date

There will be 1 tour leader on tour who will be able to speak both English and Chinese. They will service the customers in the preferred language (Chinese/English).

Itinerary

Day 1: [Saturday] London
In the early morning, you start a tour of London attractions: Big Ben, House of Parliament, Westminster Abbey, 10 Downing Street, Whitehall, St James’ Park, Buckingham Palace and River Thame

Day 2: [Sunday] London → Cambridge → York (350 km)
After breakfast, it is time to visit the nation’s acclaimed educational institution: Cambridge University. In addition to a strong academic atmosphere, Cambridge is where many luminaries started their dreams and hopes for the future with the sight of the pastoral landscapes, picturesque rivers and architecture. The University of Cambridge, a majestic old group of buildings including King’s College and Queens College, set among the most rural of bridges. When come to Cambridge, sincerely recommend a trip to "Cambridge Penny", which is carried by a boat with a long pole (part-timejob of many college students) to carry people up the river Cambridge

Day 3: [Monday] York → Edinburgh (326 km)
We proceed our journey to York, a true medieval melting pot of Roman, Saxon and Viking culture. The city is mostly intact from the middle ages and shows the rustic side of Britain. We visit York Minster, the largest Gothic cathedral in northern Europe. Then we will step up onto York city walls, dating back to Roman times. For those keen to discover the little grass-roots shops, there will be time to wander around.

Day 4: [Tuesday] Edinburgh → Glasgow (75 km)
After leaving York, Edinburgh is next on our places to visit. We are expected to arrive in Edinburgh in the afternoon. Edinburgh is Scotland’s compact, hilly capital. It represents the best in Scottish heritage. Wooden barrows of gold single malt whiskey, checked kilts and Scottish bagpipes will make you grow fond of this warm and lively nation of quirky characters. Upon arrival, we first visit Edinburgh Castle, set on the stunning view of volcanic rock structures, where once inside we will admire the oldest royal crown and jewelry.

Day 5: [Wednesday] Glasgow → Glenfinnan Viaduct → Fort Augustus (Loch Ness Lake) → Loch Lomond →Glasgow (498 km)
Today we enjoy Scotland to the fullest. We head to the Glenfinnan Viaduct. The Hogwarts train was made iconic by the protagonist of the movie Harry Potter, they passed through this bridge, which was built between 1897 and 1901. In summer, steam trains can be seen passing by. It is one of the must-see attractions for Harry Potter fans, and also on the Schottish £10 banknote.

Day 6: [Thursday] Glasgow → Gretna Green → Lake District → Manchester (360 km)
In the morning, we drive straight to Lake District, located in the west side of the north of England. On the way, we will stop in Gretna Green, where is a village in the south of Scotland famous for ‘runaway marriages’ began in 1754. Due to its romantic wedding traditions dating back over centuries, Gretna Green is one of the world’s most popular wedding location

Day 7: [Friday] Manchester → Stratford-upon-Avon → Bicester Village → London (380 km)
A breath-taking drive will take you to the famous English playwright and poet William Shakespeare’s hometown, Stratford-upon-Avon. This is also where the acclaimed Hollywood blockbuster movie – ‘Shakespeare in Love’ was filmed.
