Itinerary

Day 1: Airport Pickup
Upon your arrival at the Ivato International Airport in Antananarivo, your English speaking driver guide will pick you up and transfer you to the hotel for check-in. It takes about 20 minutes.

Day 2: Fly from Antananarivo to Ifaty
This morning, take a flight to Ifaty (Toliara Airport). On arrival, you will be led to check into the hotel in Ifaty. Then, you can freely arrange the rest of the day.

Day 3: Ifaty: Visit Reniala Reserve
In the morning, a 20-minute drive will take you to the Reniala Reserve, a private protected piece of spiny forest. On this oddest habitat on the earth, you can find an entire family of bizarre spiny octopus trees, the oldest and largest baobab of Ifaty, some rare species of reptiles, birds, and, of course, lemurs - Madagascar’s national treasure. Drive back to the hotel after the tour.

Day 5: Ifaty - Zombitse-Vohibasia National Park - Ranohira
Today, your driver guide will escort you on a 5.5-hour road trip from Ifaty to Ranohira. We will stop by Zombitse-Vohibasia National Park, a unique ecosystem which sees how southern dry spiny forests transit to the highland woods in central Madagascar. our guide will take you to spot some of the 8 species of lemurs.

Day 6: Ranohira: Full Day in Isalo National Park
We will have a full day excursion in Isalo National Park, one of Madagascar’s biggest tourist cards, which features spectacular rugged sandstone terrains formed during the Jurassic Period. After today’s sightseeing, the driver guide will escort you back to the hotel.

Day 7: Ranohira - Anja Community Reserve - Ranomafana
After breakfast, we will drive to Ranomafana. Before getting there, we will stop by Anja Community Reserve, Ambalavao and Fianarantsoa respectively.

Day 8: Ranomafana National Park Excursion
In the morning, continue with a day safari at the Ranomafana National Park, where you will explore around in the company of your driver guide and a local park guide. This park boasts rainforests on mountains and was established for the discovery of bamboo lemurs, a species previously thought to be extinct. After the tour, return to the hotel for rest. The hotel we have arranged for you today features two private jacuzzis flowing natural hot water, where you can wind down after a whole morning’s hike. Jacuzzing here is very popular so don’t forget to reserve it in advance.

Day 9: Ranomafana - Ambositra - Antsirabe
Head for Antsirabe today via RN7 national road. On the way, pay a visit to the town of Ambositra, to appreciate its UNESCO-honored native wood-crafting art. Pass by local houses and balconies, and, as your driver guide commentates, observe unique carved patterns on the wood, which reveal family values and imply Indonesian and Arab influences.

Day 11: Drive from Antsirabe to Andasibe
This morning, drive about 8 hours to Andasibe. Upon arrival, check in at the eco-lodge we carefully prepared for you and have a good rest. At night, enjoy a guided walk around the hotel for another night safari.

Day 12: Andasibe: Analamazaotra NP - Vakona Reserve (Lemurs Island) - Local Village & Market
Today, you will first appreciate Andasibe’s biodiversity at the Analamazaotra National Park, which stars the largest lemur Indri Indri, known for their loud wails that can be heard more than one mile away. Spending most of time living high up on trees, Indris are now critically endangered mainly due to the clearing of their natural habitat for agriculture, which is why both these critters and the area are so valued. If you spot a fur ball lolling on a branch, that’d be a woolly lemur!

Day 13: Visit Voimma Forest, Reserve Peyreiras Exotic, Drive back to Antananarivo
Start your day with a short visit to Voimma Forest. The reserve is managed by local villagers, which blends environmental stewardship with local economic development well. Look for more lemur species like orange-limbed diademed sifakas as they leap from a branch to another here.

Day 14: Visit Royal Hill of Ambohimanga; Departure from Antananarivo
Today, your local driver guide will lead you to visit the King’s Palace on the Royal Hill of Ambohimanga, where King Andrianampoinimerina (reigned 1787 – 1810) who initiated the unification of the island of Madagascar once lived. Here, you get to see how traditional European-style elements blend into indigenous architecture, as well as appreciate furniture, art collections and décor that reflect the lifestyle and aesthetic taste of past royal families on this land.
