Itinerary

Day 1: Welcome to the jungle
Flight to Leticia, port town that frontiers with Peru and Brazil in the Amazon river. Depart to Calanoa Forest Reserve after a short walk to the port. Once you arrive you will be allocated to your room and have a brief tour of the facilities. The afternoon ahead has options like kayak and swim in nearby creeks, but after dinner the highlight is the rain forest night walk, where you will have a completely different experience. Truly beautiful.

Day 2: Explore different ecosystems
After breakfast we will cross the invisible border by boat (20min) and visit Vista Alegre conservation sanctuary in Peru. A unique place where they promote ecotourism, conservation and community involvement. Back to Calanoa for lunch and then go by boat (15 min) to visit the small village of El Vergel, a tikuna community led by Don Jose - resisting colonization bringing back meaning to ancestral traditions.

Day 3: Ancestral Revival
After breakfast you can visit the primary forest of the reserve, walk along the natural artistic displays and see the amazing Ceiba pentandra, a sacred ancient tree as you experience the rainforest life. You will have time in the morning to walk to Mocagua village, just near Calanoa, visit their handcrafts, murals and museums. After lunch at 330pm we will go to see dolphins in the river on a short boat ride to an Amazon tributary. These sightings are iconic to the Amazon and brings a spark of hope on wildlife preservation.

Day 4: Back to Civilization
On the last day before departure, we will visit the ethnographic museum and meet local artist Francy Silva, where she will talk to us about her urban street art projects, understand more about the cultures in the Amazon and how she has become one genuine creator in a variety of mediums having her ancestry and social change as a muse. Flight back to Bogota. (This activity is optional and may happen on the first day of arrival, depending on flight schedule times and is subject to artist availability)
