Get a complete 4 days tour to the amazing Bucovina and Transylvania region in the north-central part of Romania, departing from Bucharest. Visit the painted monasteries of Bucovina, listed by UNESCO as a World Heritage Sites: Voronet – known as „The Sistine Chapel of the East”, an emblematic painted church, build more then 500 years ago, with well preserved frescoes, Sucevita - where you will visit the largest painted convent, very similar to a fortress and Moldovita - with it`s golden and deep blue paintings on the exterior walls, completed in the XVI-th century. In Transylvania you will discover the most important attractions: Sighisoara, one of the most beautiful, best-preserved and still inhabited medieval citadels in Europe, the authentic Saxon houses of Prejmer and fortified churches, Brasov - a medieval city founded by german colonists on XIII century, the legendary Dracula Castle in Bran and the stunning Peles Royal Castle in Sinaia on Prahova Valley.

Itinerary

Day 1: Bucharest to Bucovina
The Agapia Monastery (Romanian: Mănăstirea Agapia) is a Romanian Orthodox nunnery located 9 km west of Târgu Neamț, in the commune of Agapia, Neamţ County. It was built between 1641 and 1643 by Romanian hetman Gavriil Coci, brother of Vasile Lupu. The church, restored and modified several times during the centuries was painted by Nicolae Grigorescu, between 1858 and 1861. It is one of the largest nunneries in Romania, having 300–400 nuns and ranking second place in population after Văratec Monastery.

Day 2: Painted monasteries in Bucovina
The architecture of the church contains both Byzantine and Gothic elements, and some elements typical to other painted churches of northern Moldavia. Both interior and exterior walls are covered by mural paintings, which are of great artistic value and depict biblical episodes from the Old and New Testament.
