Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival in Ulaanbaatar
Arrive in Mongolia’s capital, Ulaanbaatar, where you will be greeted by our team and transferred to Terelj National Park, a picturesque retreat just outside the city. Settle into a comfortable lodge and take in the stunning alpine landscapes before heading out to visit the Genghis Khan Equestrian Statue, the world’s largest equestrian monument. After a guided tour of this iconic landmark, return to the lodge for a traditional Mongolian welcome dinner and trip briefing.

Day 2: Fly to Dalanzadgad & Explore Yolyn Am Canyon
Take an early morning flight to Dalanzadgad, the gateway to the Gobi Desert. Upon arrival, drive to Yolyn Am Canyon, a dramatic ice-filled gorge nestled in the Gurvan Saikhan Mountains. Enjoy a light hike through the canyon while spotting wildlife such as lammergeiers (bearded vultures), ibex, and steppe eagles. Spend the afternoon exploring this unique valley before settling into a cozy ger camp.

Day 3: Journey to Khongoryn Els Sand Dunes
Travel deep into the heart of the Gobi Desert, passing through vast desert plains and rugged hills. Arrive at the Khongoryn Els Sand Dunes, also known as the Singing Dunes due to the sound they produce when the sand shifts. Meet a local camel herding family and embark on a Bactrian camel trek, riding across the golden dunes. In the evening, climb the highest dune to witness a mesmerizing sunset over the desert horizon.

Day 4: Full Day at Khongoryn Els Sand Dunes
Wake up to the tranquility of the desert and spend the day immersing yourself in the unique environment of Khongoryn Els. Choose from hiking the dunes, exploring nearby rock formations, or engaging in cultural exchanges with local herders. Learn about desert survival techniques and enjoy a horseback riding experience across the steppe. Relax under a sky full of stars in the evening.

Day 5: Explore the Flaming Cliffs (Bayanzag)
Travel to Bayanzag, the legendary Flaming Cliffs, where the first dinosaur fossils were discovered in the early 20th century. Explore the striking red sandstone formations and learn about the region’s paleontological significance. Walk through the nearby saxaul forests, known for their ability to thrive in harsh desert conditions. As night falls, enjoy a stargazing session, as the Gobi Desert boasts some of the clearest night skies on Earth.

Day 6: Return to Ulaanbaatar
After breakfast, drive back to Dalanzadgad and board a flight to Ulaanbaatar. Upon arrival, enjoy free time for shopping, relaxation, or an optional guided tour of the city. In the evening, gather for a farewell dinner featuring a live Mongolian cultural performance, including traditional throat singing and the morin khuur (horsehead fiddle).
