Tour Overview

The most famous destination in Rwanda, Volcanoes National Park has become synonymous with mountain gorilla tracking safaris and no visit to the country would be complete without visiting these majestic primates. The town of Musanze is the hub of Rwanda’s gorilla trekking tourism, with plenty of cafes, bars and restaurants, and is easily accessible on a 2 hour drive from Kigali. Volcanoes National Park’s Headquarters are based in the nearby village of Kinigi, the administrative centre for permits and the place where all visitors gather in the mornings for briefings before starting on their gorilla treks. here is a link for Terms and conditions, guidelines etc…

Itinerary

Day 1: Genocide memorial visit & transfer to volcano national park
Our guide will meet you after your breakfast for briefing. you'll drive to the genocide memorial a site that was established to commemorate people that were massacred in the unspeakable civil war. The people that succumbed to death at the course of this tragic man slaughter were concealed in mass graves and this particular museum is in commemoration at the location of the mass graves.

Day 2: Gorilla Trekking and culture visit (Gorilla permit PP)
Upon briefing, you’ll commence the trek with a guide in the forest in pursuit of the Mountain Gorillas. You will trek through the forest, slashing at the undergrowth, parting thick creepers, to track gorillas. The time taken to track the Gorillas is unpredictable as it depends on their movements, where they find food and shelter. However, it can take three quarters of the day and 90% chances of viewing them.

Day 3: Golden monkey trekking and Transfer back to kigali (Golden Monkey permit PP)
Golden monkeys are known to have unique characters and are a rare species that are endangered at the moment and they are currently found in the Virunga Mountains in Rwanda. They are easily recognized due to the yellow patches that can be seen all over their bodies. The Golden monkeys are also known as ‘the Old world monkey’ and the only way to separate these primates from others is by their noses. There is a unique character about the golden monkeys and that is most of the monkeys have their nostrils pointing to the sides but if you look closely at the golden monkeys, their nostrils face upwards.
