This 10-day rail tour takes you to Berlin, Prague, Krakow, and Budapest. The tour includes hotel accommodation, complete rail transport, and 24/7 support. When booking a tour with us, we handle everything! All you need to do is show up. Every traveller that books with us will receive complimentary access to our InterrailingPackages app, whereby you can access your itinerary for your trip, reservations, hotel directions, discounted sightseeing tickets, discounted food tours, all to name but a few. With our app, you don't have to carry all your travel documents with you, reducing the impact on the environment and keeping your documents safe. All our tours are completely independent, you will not be part of a group and your time is free to spend it how you like in every city. The package starts in Berlin. This tour is self-guided so no tour guide will be present and you will be traveling independently. Travelers must make their own travel arrangements to the first city. - Time zone: Europe/Berlin

Day 1: Arrive in Berlin

The seat of Germany’s Parliament and one of Berlin’s most recognizable landmarks, the Reichstag building is an impressive feat of 19th-century architecture, with a futuristic glass dome and classical columns on its facade. The structure stands proudly on the River Spree’s southern bank, a stoic reminder of Berlin’s turbulent history.

Day 2: Berlin, Germany

Once one of three Berlin Wall border points, bridging the divide between the Allied-occupied West Berlin and Soviet-occupied East Berlin, Checkpoint Charlie is one of the most important Cold War sites in Berlin. Today, a recreated guard house marks the site where numerous confrontations, escape attempts, and protests took place, and the adjoining Checkpoint Charlie Museum is a moving tribute to those who risked their lives to escape from East Germany and bring about the fall of the wall.

Day 3: Berlin, Germany

At the height of the Cold War in 1961, socialist East Germany erected the Berlin Wall as an imposing concrete barrier that divided Berlin's eastern and western sides for nearly 30 years. In 1989, toward the end of the war and the fall of East Germany and communism in Europe, the wall's demolition began, thus reunifying Germany. Today, sections of the wall remain as permanent reminders of the days when the country (and Berlin) was divided.

Day 4: Arrive in Prague, Czech Republic

To get to know the city on your first day, we recommend starting your trip in the centre of the Old Town, where you will find the famous Astronomical Clock. See what amazing sights you can stumble upon down those cobbled streets.

Day 5: Prague, Czech Republic

A trip to Prague would not be complete without taking a walk along the iconic Charles Bridge. It can be quite busy during the day, so why not visit early morning or late evening when you can have the bridge all to yourself?

Day 6: Arrive in Krakow, Poland

Nothing can compare to the beauty of the Old Town of Krakow! Take on this city by foot on your first day, as all the major sights are within walking distance.

Day 7: Krakow, Poland

One of the most poignant tours you can do when visiting Krakow. The Auschwitz-Birkenau Memorial has become the symbol of terror, genocide and the Shoah. It was the largest Nazi concentration camp used during World War II.

Day 8: Arrive in Budapest, Hungary

Nestled right up against the Danube is Hungary's incredible Parliament building, known as one of the most beautiful in the world and is what usually dominates all pictures you see online of this beautiful city. You can book a tour to visit inside if you wish, however admiring the building close from the outside makes it still worth stopping by.

Day 9: Budapest, Hungary

Directly behind Fisherman's Bastion sits the colourful and striking Matthias Church. With its brightly coloured tiled roof, detailed painted interior and architectural splendor, you won't be surprised to learn all about this building's history.

Day 10: Budapest, Hungary

Buda Castle is an iconic landmark in the city. You can visit for some of the beautiful views from the grounds, to admire the beauty of the building or go inside to the Hungarian National Gallery or Budapest History Museum, Buda Castle is a must-see item on any Budapest itinerary.
