Tour Overview

On this tour, you can visit authentic nomad families and explore their lifestyle while staying in their extra ger (yurt). You will have the opportunity to see yaks and other animals. This tour covers Unesco heritage, Orkhon Valley and the famous national park, "mini-gobi", a gobi-type landscape that presents a unique combination of mountains, forests and Gobi-type landscape all in one location. Most importantly, you can visit one of the most historical sites, the ruin of Kharkhorin city, once was at the same time a political, economic, administrative and religious center, and one of the most important cities in the history of world trade holding an intense impact on the Silk Road. We hope you will enjoy horse and camel riding and the hiking activities.

Itinerary

Day 1: "mini" Gobi
We'll drive to Elsen Tasarkhai sand dunes (“mini-Gobi”) and walk around the sand dunes to take photos. Visit the nomad family to see their lifestyle and taste dairy products. After lunch, we'll hiking in the sand dunes.

Day 2: Erdene Zuu monastery
We'll drive to Kharkhorin, the ancient capital of Mongolian Empire from 13th centuries. There, we’ll visit Erdene Zuu (Hundred treasures) monastery and local museum where we can explore incredible historical sites of ancient Empires of Stone and Bronze Ages.

Day 3: Khogno Khan Uul National park
We'll drive to Khogno Khan Uul National Park. It's a unique place with many different forms of landscape. Near the splendid mountain, Khogno Khan, we'll visit the nomad family and get introduced to their lifestyle and taste dairy products. Then, we'll climb up to the mountain to see the splendid view and Ovgon temple ruins.

Day 4: Khogno Khan National Park
After breakfast, we'll have an hour of Bactrian camel riding and visit a lake near the Khugnu Khan mountain. After lunch, we'll drive back to Ulaanbaatar.
