Tour Overview

If you’re a strong and experienced road cyclist who enjoys climbing, this is your tour. Cyclists will ride an average 75 km a day with around 1000 meters of daily climbing. Expect to spend 6 to 7 hours in the saddle each day.

Itinerary

Day 1: Geneva
Overnight in Geneva

Hotel Cornavin, Geneva

Breakfast:

Day 2: Geneva to Chatel; 65 km & 1,175 meters
You'll take a cruise from Geneva to Yvoire on (on the French side of the lake) and then start climbing to spend the night in Chatel France before coming back into Switzerland.

Hotel Fleur de Neige, Chatel

Breakfast:

Day 3: Chatel to Gruyère; 102 km & 1,754 meters
Another stupendous day, this time with a 1500 meter climb taking you high above Lake Geneva. You'll be spending the night in the small (yet world renowned) town of Gruyère. Have a fondue...weather permitting.

Day 4: Gruyère to Thun; 93 km & 1,375 meters
You'll be passing from the French-speaking side of Switzerland to the German-speaking side today. No killer-climbs today, but rather gentle rolling hills taking you through the Gantrisch nature park.

Day 5: Thun Hiking Day (Optional)
Many of our riders choose to take an extra day in Thun to rest and spend a day hiking in the nearby Swiss alps. You've got a lot of choice: The Niederhorn, The Jungfrau or a day relaxing on Lake Thun or Lake Brienz..so many possibilities.

Day 6: Thun to Fluehli; 56 km & 1004 meters
You'll be biking on the narrow, deserted roads of Switzerland's "Alpine Panorama", an itinerary that will take you through another cheese heartland: Emmenthal. You'll be staying in a recently renovated historic hotel in the isolated village of Fluehli. Enjoy the cool-water baths just above the town.

Day 7: Fluehli to Beckenried; 62 km & 946 meters
A break from climbing today, but not until we get over the Glaubenbuelen pass...you're already half-way up. Our descent is going to give you some incredible views of Lake Sarnen and beyond. Once down the mountain, we’ll spend most of the day on flat lake roads until you reach Beckenried on Lake Lucerne.

Day 8: Beckenried to Weesen; 63 km & 1150 meters
You'll start with a boat ride to reach the other side of Lake Lucerne. Once you reach Altdorf (the home of William Tell), you'll start the toughest climb of our tour: The Klausen Pass. You'll have a 1600 meter climb (in 20 kilometers) and then a 20 kilometer coast downhill. You'll be staying in the small town of Weseen on Lake Walensee

Day 9: Weesen to Appenzell; 63 km & 1,153 meters
We’ll make our way through Appenzell’s most beautiful valleys with the Santis mountain always in the foreground. It’s an Appenzell icon and we’ll skirt the base of before heading off to the pasture lands and then into the small city of Appenzell, surrounded by flowering meadows.

Breakfast:

Day 10: Appenzell to Romanshorn, 70 km & 726 meters
We will head northeast for lots of gentle climbing and coasting: Appenzell is a natural roller-coaster. Our last climb of the trip will take us up to the village of Heiden where you can stop for ice cream and get our first look at the sprawling Lake Constance. You'll be staying on the shores of this lake in Romanshorn.

Hotel Inseli, Romanshorn

Breakfast:

Day 11: Romanshorn -> Bern -> Geneva
You'll leave your bike in Romanshorn. We'll sort it out. Then board a train back to Geneva (or any other destination in Switzerland). We'll supply the ticket. The return is 4.5 hours and so we encourage riders to stop in Switzerland' capital, Bern. Stretch your legs and see the sites.
