On this tour, you will experience the historical & cultural buzzing city Dhaka and one full-day trip to the historic ancient capital Sonargaon. One overnight cruise to Barisal, the south-center division of Bangladesh, is awash with rivers and canals which is part of the Ganges Delta. Hundreds of them flow through this region and the result is a deliciously lush landscape with more shades of green than you ever imagined. Traveling by boat is the way of life here. In this short tour we take you to explore the Delta lifestyle of Barisal where you can experience and photograph life in Ganges Delta which will be an unique experience.

Itinerary

Day 1: Dhaka
Bangladesh National Parliament: Great architecture of Louis Kahn in Dhaka, one of the must-sees of Bangladesh, visit this outstanding Architectural work from outside, this is an architectural masterpiece and a real accomplishment for the country. It was designed by world renowned American architect and Yale University Professor Louis I. Kahn. Originally commissioned by the Pakistanis when Bangladesh was known as East Pakistan after Partition of the Indian Sub-Continent, was meant to serve as the second seat of the national parliament. Construction of Bangladesh National Parliament started in 1964 but halted due to the Bangladeshi War of independence, and finally completed in 1982. Note: Outside visit only.

Lunch:

Day 2: Sonargaon; the Ancient Capital
Visit Sonargaon, the ancient capital of Bengal, including the Folk-Art Museum, abandoned Panam city, beautiful Goaldi Mosque from 15th century CE, Visit Ahsan Manzil; the famous Pink Palace of Dhaka's Nawab, visit Sadarghat central river port where a vital transit for millions of people and tons of goods, experience a small rowboat ride on the busiest river Buringa in the evening, Sadarghat central river terminal for a massive transit to the south-western part of the country. Board the century old Paddle steamer Rocket. Enjoy your cruise night on the next 4 biggest rivers. Overnight stay on board. Note: 1. Panam City off on Sunday. Monday half day (open after 2:30pm). 2. Royal Palace (Boro Sardar Bari) and Folk Museum off on Thursday. Friday Half Day (open after 2:30pm).

Overnight Cruise by passenger ferry. Accommodation and Dinner on Board. First class cabin for sleeping only.

Day 3: Barisal
Disembark at Barisal launch terminal in the early morning around 5.30 am and your guide will make your local transfer to a beautiful remote village of the Ganges-Delta with less modern facilities. Your hosting family will meet & greet you upon arrival. After meeting the family you'll have your room for freshen-up. You'll experience a traditional breakfast with family members. After that you'll have a full-day visit around the village to see their numerous activities and join them, visit a village school, explore river bank lifestyle by narrow country-boat. Enjoy traditional lunch and dinner. In the evening your guide will make your transfer to a hotel located in the town for overnight stay.

Day 4: Barisal - Dhaka
Today your guide will take you some other places to visit through the narrow canals and rivers. You’ll float through the backyards of people’s house and see their lifestyle while they welcome you and greet you from the land, visit numerous guava gardens where 80% of Bangladesh’s guavas are grown, see a floating guava market, timber market which is the largest market of this type in the southern part of the country. You’ll see logs dumped beside the river spread in miles long places, carried away on the river very slowly with the help of a boat, loading and unloading them manually with the help of tide. Also we’ll take you ashore to visit numerous saw mills where they saw the logs according to the needs of the customers without taking the least safety measure. transfer to Barisal by Tuk-Tuk (01 hour). You’ll return to hotel in the afternoon and late check-out. After freshen up, transfer to Barisal river station depending on your departure time on a passenger ferry to Dhaka (between 6.30 – 8.30 pm).
