Itinerary

Day 1: Bucharest – Peles Castle – Bran Castle – Rasnov Fortress – Brasov
In the morning, our tour guide will pick you up from your hotel in Bucharest. Your tour will begin with a road trip from Bucharest to Sinaia where you will visit one of the most prestigious castles in Romania, Peles Castle. Due to its beautiful architecture and idyllic setting, Peles is considered by several publications one of the most spectacular castles in the world. In the past, it was used by the Romanian Royal Family as a summer residence, until it was seized by the communist regime.

Overnight in Brasov

Day 2: Brasov – Fagaras Citadel – Rupea – Crit – Sighisoara Citadel
In the morning you will leave for Fagaras, an imposing citadel dating back to the feudal ages. The Fagaras Citadel has an impressive defensive system that allowed it to be one of the few structures that were never conquered. It is surrounded by a moat and by two rows of walls which makes it very difficult to lay siege to.

Overnight in Sighisoara

Day 3: Sighisoara – Richis – Biertan – Alba Iulia – Hunedoara - Sibiu
On the third day of your medieval tour of Romania you will head to Richis, a small village near Biertan, that is home to a gothic fortified church with an age of over 500 years. From Richis you will head to Biertan, which boasts with the largest fortified church in Romania, surrounded by three rows of walls protected by 6 towers and 3 bastions. Biertan is one of Transylvania's villages with fortified churches and has been included in the UNESCO World Heritage Centre since 1993.

Overnight in Sibiu

Breakfast:

Day 4: Sibiu – Curtea de Arges – Bucharest
Your fourth and final day starts with a city tour of Sibiu, a city that simply cannot be excluded from a medieval tour of Romania. Sibiu’s characteristics resemble those of a German medieval town: a large square surrounded by the most representative buildings. You will take a walking tour through the city, and in order to reach the defensive walls you will pass over the most famous bridge in Romania, the Bridge of Lies.
