But this travel does not only contain landscape highlights: Meet the largest predator of Madagascar, the Fossa, and get enchanted by chameleons and caramel-coloured Mirza coquereli lemurs. This tour through the wild West offers a unique travel experience. From the capital of Madagascar, via the rain forest of the Andasibe National Park to the dry deciduous forest of the Kirindy Reserve. Morondava is the starting-point to many unavoidable tourist sites of Madagascar, especially the Tsingy de Bemaraha National Park, or the Avenue of the Baobabs. Nature lovers won’t be disappointed. Back to the Avenue of the Baobabs, to admire at colourful sunset and sunrise, then join Belo-sur-Mer, a little fisherman village where all the beaches are more than wonderful. This journey gives you the opportunity to visit these places and feel their magic – we have brought together all these places in just 13 days of travel.

Itinerary

Day 1: Day 1, Saturday, ARRIVAL IN ANTANANARIVO
Arrival at the airport Ivato, customs and visa formalities - about 1 hour.
Pick up and transfer to the hotel.

Day 2: Day 2, Sunday, ANTANANARIVO – ANDASIBE. LEMUR ISLANDS AND VAKONA RESERVE

Transfer to Andasibe. The road it is a beautiful landscape, composed of small villages, rice paddies, tropical plants and forest.

En-route yoy will stop at a farm specializing in Madagascan reptiles and butterflies. You visit the exotic farming centre of Mr. Pereyras, Marozevo, where you will see chameleon species of Madagascar, butterflies, lizards, snakes and other interesting animals.


In the afternoon, you will get a visit to the lovely private reserve known as the "Island of lemurs". The lemurs - brown, ruffled, dancing, lemurs galore. After that, you will visit the amazing private reserve Vakona, where you will find many Nile crocodiles.

Day 3: Day 3, Monday, ANALAMAZAOTRA RESERVE. BACK TO ANTANANARIVO

Today, inside the most famous national park of Madagascar, you will try to find the Diadem sifaka and visit the largest lemur of the Earth, the “normally coloured” Indri.

You just after early breakfast, take an half day trip to visit the reserve of indri or, better known as the Analamazaotra Special Reserve, during which, you will certainly start to see the various species, including the indri, is the largest of the species of lemurs. 

Return to Antananarivo.

Day 4: Day 4, Tuesday, TANA – MORONDAVA BY FLIGHT - ALLÉE DE BAOBAB - KIRINDY RESERVE

Transfer from the hotel to the airport to your flight Antananarivo-Morondava. Departure at 12-00, arrival 13-15.

Your next destination is the dry forest of Kirindy, stopping at the iconic "Avenue des Baobabs" along the way. 

Night tour to Kirindy Private Reserve. In the evening you will do Night walk to spot the nocturnal wildlife with park guide as it offers the best wildlife spotting experience including, lemurs, chameleons and Fossa. This protected area is home to Madagascar’s largest predator, the Fossa. And Kirindy Forest offers best chances to see this elegant chaser.

Accommodation at the Le Relais du Kirindy, Bed & Breakfast. Simple hotel, there is no other there. Wi-Fi only in the restaurant area, electricity from solar panels and a generator from 17:00 to 22:30.

Day 5: Day 5, Wednesday, KIRINDY RESERVE – BEKOPAKA (TSINGY DE BEMARAHA NATIONAL PARK)

Morning visit to Kirindy Reserve looking for diurnal lemur species.

After morning tour in Kirindy, you will continue your journey to Bekopaka, gate in the Tsingy de Bemaraha National park. The road hither lasts a little long but the landscape which it offers is worth the pain.

Everywhere along the road there are the impressive Baobabs until Belo-sur-Tsiribinha. The southern landscape is arid but has a beauty all of its own.

Day 6: Day 6, Thursday, TSINGY DE BEMARAHA NATIONAL PARK

GRAND TSINGY AND MANAMBOLO

*Manambolo circuit, 2 hours by pirogue (6km). At this circuit in a pirogue you can see steep gorges of 50m to 80m in height, different types of vegetation, sub-humid dense forest, sparse xerophytic vegetation and semi-deciduous dry dense forest.

*Ankeligoa Circuit: Circuit starts 17km north of the village of Bekopaka and presents gigantic limestone cathedrals, deep cracks, limestone blocks carved in blades or sharp peaks constituting an immense field of Tsingy. Admire the 360° panoramic view from an elevated gazebo on the roof of the Tsingy. Feel the empty space crossing a 20m long and 70m deep suspension bridge. Walk in the middle of the Tsingy arcades and descent to the bottom of a canyon and forest tunnel.

Day 7: Day 7, Friday, BEKOPAKA – MORONDOVA

Return to Morondava.

Stopping at the Alley of the Baobabs for a photo session at sunset. It is an amazing sight.

Day 8: Day 8, Saturday, MORONDAVA - BAOBAB AVENUE SUNRISE – BELO SUR MER

Morning transfer to Belo sur Mer by speed boat (1 hour 40 min).

Day 9: Day 9, Sunday, BELO SUR MER. THE ISLAND OF NOSY BE

During this one-day escapade, you will visit in the morning the dune of Kirindy Mitea and you will marvel at its impressive view of the baobab forest and the mangrove. After swimming, departure for the island of Nosy Be (THIS IS NOT THE NOSY BE ARCHIPELAGO in northern Madagascar), located 12 km away.

Once arrived, you can enjoy the clear waters of Nosy Be while your guide, prepares the grilled fish on the beach for lunch. Return to the ecolodge in the afternoon.

Day 10: Day 10, Monday, BELO SUR MER. NOSY ANDRAHAVO

A castaway experience on a deserted island in the Indian Ocean

Nosy Andrahavo is a coral island 12 kilometers from Belo, it is uninhabited, some Vezo fishermen sometimes stop there.

The seabed is exceptionally transparent. Accessible by pirogue, it will take a maximum of one hour of navigation to get there.

We can lend you fins and masks to snorkel and explore the seabed.

Departure in the morning, to enjoy a calm sea and return to the ecolodge for lunch.

Day 11: Day 11, Tuesday, BELO SUR MER – MORONDAVA – TANA BY FLIGHT

Morning transfer to Morondava by boat (2 hours).

Transfer to the airport to your flight Morondava - Antananarivo. Departure at 13-50, arrival 15-00.

Day 12: Day 12, Wednesday, ANTANANARIVO

Today, in the morning, Royal Hill of Ambohimanga and Ambohimanga Rova. Tana is surrounded by the “twelve sacred hills of Imerina”, the hilltop villages of the old Merina clans before they became a single kingdom. Some of these sites have been obscured by modern developments, but one, the UNESCO World Heritage Site the Ambohimanga Rova, is a significant and fascinating historical site. Although less well-known than the Rova in Antananarivo, it is in many ways more impressive.

After returning to Antananarivo and having lunch, you will have a visit to a chocolate factory and the observation deck. Then you will visit the Rova Royal Palace, opened after many years of interior renovation in June 2023, and the Antananarivo Photography Museum, which is located nearby in an old colonial mansion.

You will learn about Madagascar and Antananarivo of the end of the 19th - the first half of the 20th century from the expositions of old photographs presented there, 6 mini films, and the story of our guide.

I'm a solo traveller, is there a single supplement?

Single occupancy supplement is 540 euros.

Should I book pre/post tour accommodation?

On receipt of your non-refundable deposit, which will then be taken into account in the final payment, NDAO-i-Travel will reserve your place on your selected arrangements.Deposit amount is 20% of the total tour cost. In addition, it is necessary to indicate the full names and surnames of tourists to issue air tickets. Final payment is due not less than 30 days before the start of the tour.

What is cancellation policy?

The Client may cancel the booking at any time provided that the cancellation is communicated to the Company in writing. Cancellation charges will be applied as shown below calculated from the day when written notice is received by the Company. However, in addition to the charges shown below air tickets have no refund value whatsoever and, therefore, airlines may impose 100% cancellation charges. Cancellation charges apply as follows: Period before departure: 31 Days or more – total cost of domestic air tickets; 30-04 Days – 30% of entire cost; 03 Days or less – 80% of entire cost.
