Overview

I live in a quiet leafy area of south Birmingham close to Cadbury's World (the perfect experience for chocoholics), the Warwickshire (Edgbaston) County Cricket Club, the Priory and the Edgbaston Priory Tennis Club. Ideal location for visitors interested in history, the industrial revolution and more contemporary things like art, fashion, music and shopping. My home is on the 35 bus route so very easy access to Birmingham City Centre (20 minute journey before 07.00), Aston University, BCU, Brasshouse Language College, Abbey College, King Edwards School, etc.... The 76 and 27 bus routes for the University of Birmingham (Edgbaston campus) and Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Edgbaston locations is also within walking distance (aprox 10 minutes walk). The 11 bus route is also closeby (for Aston Villa Football Club and Aston Hall, Blakesley Hall, Sarehole Mill and Tolkien Trail). The train station is aprox 20 minute walk from the house (to Bournville train station and Kings Norton train station) which goes to the Selly Oak university campus and New Street Grand Central Birmingham train station. I can host upto 3 guests in my home. For guests staying for a week and longer - half-board (i.e. evening meal) can be provided for some of the stay, so please email with your plans and we can negotiate this further. Some meals can be complimentary (I will host) and other meals can be provided for aprox £5 per person per night - guests can eat with myself and other homestay guests. Kitchen facilities are limited (microwave, kettle and toaster) so make an enquiry if self catering is preferred. I'm an author, tutor and mentor. Full-board homestay (EFL) students are hosted at specific times of the year from europe and international countries so long term stays are not always available. A bus ride away: The city centre attractions are just a short bus ride away (or get the train. the closest train station is Bournville Train Station: aprox 20 minute walk). In in the city centre, spend time visiting the beautiful Birmingham New Library (largest Library in Europe), Art & History Museum, Gas Street Basin Canals, Brindley Place, Mailbox and Cube, NIA concerts, Symphony Hall, Vintage Custard Factory and lots of exciting nightlife venues. Birmingham City centre is great for shopping. We have Selfridges and lots of shops in the Bull Ring Shopping centre and in the main city centre streets (some of the shops are open until 8pm). In addition, we have a fabulous Christmas Market that's about 1 mile long starting around 15th November every year with outdoor ice-skating. Closer still, by bus, there's Moseley Village - very popular nightlife area with plenty of pubs, cafes and restaurants A short walk from the house: I live in a green city and you can easily see this by taking a short walk from my home to the local reservoir and then onto the canal. It's an aprox 5 mile canal walk to the city centre - or a quicker bike ride! The local Kings Heath high street is an aprox 15 minute walk and provides plenty of cafes, bars, restaurants, library, swimming pools, gyms, shops, churches and parks. Good location for a day visit to Shakespeare's Stratford or London. Homestay Accommodation: Light, spacious and airy 3 bedroomed home with 2 bathrooms and 3 toilets in the house - so there's plenty of privacy. 2 lounges and outdoor seating in the garden also available for a comfortable relaxing stay. Parking is available. Host works from home most days.
