Overview
LOCATION: We are located in a village of Santa Luzia on Pico island in the Azores archipelago, 1700 km west from Lisbon. Conveniently located right on the main road called Estrada Regional in Santa Luzia (Pico) 3 km from the airport, midway between Madalena and São Roque. PAYMENT FOR ACCOMMODATION: Full payment upon the day of arrival of the guest, payable directly to your host, in cash in Euros only or at least 7 days before arrival via a bank transfer (within the EU countries and USA only), with a debit or credit card (5% fee applies) or via Paypal internationally (5,5% Paypal fee applies) in Euros (€). US Americans can also pay with ZellePay (US$) and with personal check (US$). CANCELLATION POLICY: Guest(s) will be liable to pay the cancellation or amendment charges shown below: More than 7 days before arrival date = free cancellation. Less than 7 days before arrival = 50% of the booking price. Less than 2 days before arrival = 75% of the booking price. There will be no refunds if the client voluntarily decides to stop using the services included in the holiday before the end of his/her stay as we may not be able to get another booking at short notice. REFUNDS: If the booking is cancelled in full or partially later than 2 full days prior to your arrival or during your stay refund can not be made and you will have to pay for all the time period of the booking by 75% of the owed amount, if the room has not been occupied. Refunds can not be issued for the unused days of stay if guests have to leave early as we may not be able to get another booking at short notice of less than 2 days. R1: The Huge Private Room (R1) is 4,3 x 9,1 meters (39 sq. metres) in size and has got a futon, a single metal frame bed and another single "bed" made up of two mattresses stacked upon each other placed directly onto the carpet on the floor, which can be seen in the photos. It also has a work table and a dining table with chairs. The room is separated from the rest of the house by an arched doorway with a curtain. This room is just steps away to the (shared) bathroom/WC and next door to the (shared) kitchen (without snacks). R2: The Private Room with TV (R2) is 3,5 m x 3,8 m (13,3 sq. meters) and is a south-facing room (separate listing) with two single beds that can be joined together (upon request in advance, before your arrival). Two guests maximum in this room. Beautiful view to the back yard with garden, stone courtyard and stone walls. This room is next door to the (shared) bathroom/WC and next door to the (shared) kitchen (without snacks). About 200 meters from us there is a little local village grocery shop and two cafes within walking distance. Madalena is 9 km and São Roque is 7 km from here. The PIX airport is 4 km and the beach is 2 km. Views of neighbouring islands and the Pico volcano are abound. Remark about sharing: The Private Room with TV (R2) has got a door with a key (provided upon guest's request; lost key replacement: €30). While there is no actual lockable door in the pictured archway connecting The Huge Private Room (R1) with the kitchen (without snacks or breakfast), the bathroom and with the rest of the house, there is a retractable fabric curtain on the archway, for privacy. Thus while the bathroom and kitchen (without breakfast) will be shared with us the owners, you will not share your room(s) with anyone else. In The Huge Private Room (R1) we have got a futon and a metal frame bed (see photos) with mattress and then for a 3rd and 4th person we have extra 2 mattresses that will be placed directly on the floor. The 3rd, 4th etc. person will be charged extra since our prices are only set up for up to two people per room. HEATING & A/C: The Huge Room (R1) does not have any heating (a/c is not needed) and an electric radiator would be ineffective heating such a large room during cool period of the year (+12C to +18C). Warm blankets will be provided. It is separated by a curtain from the rest of the house with an arched doorway. LAUNDRY SERVICE: €5 per load (2-3 hours, drying outside, if raining – inside). CLOTHES DRYER: €1 per every 10 minutes, runs on electricity. CLEANING FEE: There is a €6 room and bedding cleaning charge for stays of 1-to-2 days (upon check-out exit please leave cash on the table). There is no cleaning fee for stays of 3+ days at this time and we clean everything ourselves. We do not allow any cleaners or other people into your room during your stay here. REFRIGERATOR STORAGE: There is a limited refrigerator storage (one shelf). CAR PARKING: We have got plenty of free parking space for guests away from the street, in our front and back yard. MT. PICO ACCESS: Our house is located about 1 km East from the paved asphalt road (enter at Santa Luzia Park) that goes up all the way to Mount Pico (for climbing and observing). Please enjoy your stay and treat our house as you would your own home.
House Rules

If guest(s) pay for the room, but do not show up, refund can not be made for the same reasons stated above. For good coexistence and mutual respect, these are some basic rules or clarifications. Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any questions or needs. DOOR ENTRY: We do not have a guest key for the house main entry and the Room 1, since we are always at home, so we will open the door for you. Ring the door bell button if the front door is locked. BREAKFAST: For many obvious reasons (different tastes, cooking skills, affordable budget, etc) we are unable to serve you breakfast, which is not included in the room price. KITCHEN: Light use of our kitchen is possible. Guests should not use natural gas oven. Only use gas stove top for heating your own food, tea, coffee, boil eggs, but not for extensive or oily cooking. Using frying pan or cooking oil is not desired. REFRIGERATOR STORAGE: There is a limited refrigerator storage (one shelf). RECYCLING: Please leave all waste and recyclables in the rubbish bin provided in the room. We will sort out, wash and discard all garbage and will recycle and compost the rest, so you don't have to. LAUNDRY & DRYING: We wash guests' bedding and towels once a week and after every guest's stay, which is included in the price for all stays of 3+ nights. There is a €6 room and bedding cleaning charge for stays of 1-to-2 days (upon check-out exit please leave cash on the table). Yet if you need to wash your clothes and extras we do the laundry and drying for you upon your request at the following cost: LAUNDRY SERVICE: €5 per load (2-3 hours, drying outside on a line at no extra cost, if raining – inside, if space is available). CLOTHES TUMBLE DRYER: €1 per every 10 minutes, runs on electricity. WC: Please do NOT deposit solid objects (exception: toilet paper) into the toilet. Please leave them in the trash bucket next to the toilet. SMOKING: While smoking inside of the house is not allowed, we can arrange a designated space for smoking outside. CHECK IN: Usually any time after 14:00 (2:00 pm) and before 22:00 (10:00 pm), but your bags can be left earlier. CHECK OUT: Before noon (12:00 midday) unless I don't have another guest arriving, then we can arrange a later check out. BEDDING: All bedding sheets, pillows, covers and bath towels are provided. GRILL: Use of the outside grill owen (photographed) can be arranged with an advance agreement (to prepare firewood), for a reasonable extra charge. CHILDREN: We do host families with children, with a special advance arrangement and a small extra charge and we ask your children to be well behaved. PETS: Generally we do not accept guests with pets since the pets can attack our cats, but exceptions can be made if a disabled person require a guide dog or if you guarantee that your pets are exceptionally well behaved and will not chew our furniture etc. and you will clean up after your pets. Pet fee will be quoted separately. Any damage by pets will have to be compensated. With such conditions we will accept some pets, but a prior agreement, with pet photos provided, must be made prior to your arrival. GUESTS: The room is for your use only. Visitors are not allowed unless discussed and agreed in advance. CAR: I recommend renting a car or a scooter with a local rental company, which is best to do in advance. TAXI: We can call you a taxi if you need it. GUIDED PROPERTY TOUR: Upon guest's request, during your stay, I can show you around the property if you're interested in different palms and exotic plants that are growing here as well as volcanic caves on the property. EXTRAS: Special requests such as arrange a bonfire or provide a space for a tent in our spacious upper "backyard" (surrounded by woods) or arrange a walk in our garden can be discussed in advance. We will charge a reasonable fee to cover our costs. FEEDBACK: We leave our guests the best and honest reviews on their Homestay profiles and we appreciate when guests leave us the best and honest review as well. HELP: Is always available, just ask. REMARK: While Homestay's map won't show our home's exact location, being a remote island as we are, I must note to not mistake us for a Portuguese mainland location. Large double room 9,1 meters long and 4,3 meters wide, with 4 windows. The room will not be shared with other guests or with anyone else. Refrigerator (shared with hosts) is in the kitchen (without snacks) and the bathroom is shared with hosts.
