House Rules
Parking: One Parking space is provided. Please be sure to park on the Right-hand side of the driveway and be sure to leave enough room for us to use the left side of the driveway to get in and out of the garage. We do have signs on the garage letting you know this as well should you forget! Front Door: The plan is for someone to meet you at the front door and let you in and show you how to use the smart lock, show you arrive and no one is there to greet you just know that your access is already setup! To open the front door simply type in your PIN code (which is the last 4 digits of the phone number on file with the app). Once you type in your code hit the "ULTRALOQ" button at the bottom of the keypad and the door will unlock. If you enter alone please be aware that oftentimes our dogs are roaming the downstairs area. Once you are inside don't worry about locking the door, it'll auto-lock after 10 seconds. The Dogs: While we do have 2 dogs (A 20 pound Manchester Terrier named Copper and a 55 pound Husky named Max) our goal is for you to never encounter them. While our dogs are super friendly, they do get excited around new people and love to jump! They mean well but if they start to jump on you just pay them no attention and just keep walking, they'll get the idea and leave you alone. Again, this shouldn't be a problem as one of us are usually always home and will let them outside when you are coming or going. The House/Your Room: During your stay you'll have access to the entire first floor (Kitchen, Dining Room, Small Workout Area, and a shared Half Bath) as well as your room, a laundry room, and a shared bathroom on the second floor. The plan is for one of us to greet you at the from door when you arrive, but if this isn't possible please make yourself at home. When you are ready to go to your room just head upstairs. At the top of the stairs we do have a gate to keep the dogs downstairs but it is very easy to use, simply lift the gate door directly up and swing it in the direction you want to go. Once through the gate just close it back. Once upstairs the Laundry Room will be directly to your left. When you round the corner you will be in our loft and looking at a wall directly in front of you that has 3 doors. The room you are staying in will be the door on the far left of that wall and the shared bathroom will be the center door. Don't worry about entering the wrong room, all doors will be inaccessible to you with the exception of the doors you have access to. When you are not using the doors to your room or the bathroom, we just ask that you keep them closed, this ensures the dogs stay out of places they shouldn't go in. Meet Alexa: We try to be as smart in our house as possible, and as an added convenience we have an Alexa personal assistant in your room. Here's a couple of quick commands to get you started: - If it's really dark, say "Alexa, guest room on" - If it's kinda dark, or you don't want it to be too bright, say "Alexa, Guest Lamp On" - If it's cold, say "Alexa, Guest Heat on" *To turn any of these off simply replace the word "On" with "Off" in any of the directions above.* *If you want to have a little more fun you can also have Alexa tell you jokes, ask her to play any song you'd like, or even have her set an alarm for you!* Your Room: There is plenty of storage in the room, all drawers in the dresser and end tables are available for use. Also, there is a luggage rack for you to use in front of the closet, plus several hangers in the closet for you to hang stuff up. There is also a complimentary gift bag for you on the bed on a tray with the remotes, a complimentary cold bottled water in a tiny fridge under the night stand next to the window, and a complimentary tea / coffee bar for you, so help yourself! Watching TV: As mentioned, the tray on the bed will have your remotes. The black remote should only be needed to turn the TV off as long as all technology cooperates. The silver remote should control the TV as well as the Apple TV streaming device, but if not you may need to power on the TV with the black remote. Once everything is on you can use the silver remote to navigate. The circular button at the top of the remote is a button as well as a track pad, yes it to navigate the Home Screen and any of the apps you wish to use. You have access to any of the streaming apps that you can see, we just ask that you use the "Guest" profile if you are prompted to select a profile. The silver remote should also control the TV Volume. Have fun, and enjoy catching up on your shows or discovering new ones! Trash: If you fill up the trash can in your room please let us know so that we may empty it...no one wants to have to sleep around an overflowing trash can, and we are happy to empty it as many times as needed. If you don't want to bother us you are welcome to just take the trash bag out and lay it outside your door, additional trash bags are provided in the trash can in your room. Cleaning Precautions: Rest assured that all surfaces and remotes in your room have been not only wiped with a disinfectant wipe, but also sprayed with a disinfectant spray in order to help prevent the spread of any germs. We also wash the bed sheets, the comforter, all pillow cases, and all 3 bags of towels (whether they were used or not) after every guest. Speaking of bags of towels we have 3 bags in your room (2 under the tv and 1 under your table), each bag has one large towel, one hand towel, and one wash cloth. Use as many towels as you'd like and just put the dirty towels in the hamper in your bedroom when you're done with them. I will also add that the mattress in your room is protected with a mattress cover that is waterproof and prevents bed bugs, so rest easy! Also, while Alexa is a fun addition, she also helps to reduce the amount of surfaces our guests touch, this also helps to stop the spread of germs! Laundry: You do have access to our washer and dryer while you are here. They are easy to use, but easier to tell you how to do it in person. If you need to use them just let me know! Interaction Preferences: I love meeting new people and am happy to hang out with you anyway you'd like. We can hang out downstairs and watch TV or play board games or card games while you meet my husband, our roommate and the dogs, or if you'd like I can come to you and we can just hang out in the bedroom and watch TV or just talk there...or you can never see me and just enjoy your time at the house, the choice is yours to make, but just let me know how I can help. Extras: If you forgot any toiletries or need additional towels or to borrow any charging cords or anything during your stay please do not hesitate to reach out to me through the app or my phone number which is listed below. As far as toiletries go we have toothbrushes, toothpaste, mouthwash, shampoo, body wash, conditioner, bar soap, bandages, cotton balls, cotton buds, dental floss picks, pain reliever, hair combs, cleaning wipes, shaving cream, nail clippers, and even condoms and individually packaged lube that are available for you to use (and keep) upon request. In Closing: We host all types of guests, and never judge anyone (for any reason), we just want to make sure you are as comfortable as you can be while in the privacy of your bedroom and bathroom while you are here, that being said I must disclose that we do have two cameras at our house that monitor and record all motion (the recordings are never shared by us or posted publicly). One of the cameras is located downstairs and monitors the main living areas and the entrances to the house, and the other camera is upstairs in the loft and monitors the public space. Because of the cameras we just ask that when you are not in your room to please make sure you are wearing something to cover up any "private" areas, other than that the rest is up to you. At the end of the day we want you to have fun and be comfortable. If there is absolutely anything you need please do not hesitate to reach out to me.
