Homestay in Soledad Etla
Overview
Our house has an Oaxacan style, full of plants and flowers, with a large garden and open spaces. It is the perfect place to take a break from the city and have all the services you need close to you (bakeries, gym, stores). Our town is NOT touristic, most of the time in the year there is nothing to do than living like a local. There are two great seasons to visit us on Guelaguetza (July) and Día de muertos (October-November). Guelaguetza is a holiday about sharing between all the different cultures that exist in the state, usually you will find a lot of food, music and dances. In our town we have an event where people prepare some traditional dances and you can go to see them. Of course, there are more events in the city so renting a car or using the public transportation is a great idea. One thing you need to know is that Día de muertos is a really big party in our town so it is a great moment to visit Oaxaca and our town. We highly recommend planning your trip during that time. During Día de muertos season we always like to share our traditions with our guests; the ofrenda setting, mole cooking and going to party at the Muerteada. This year we are starting to offer different experiences for an extra cost; we can have a market day where we can show you the best places to eat, taste new fruits, find handcrafts, and be part of this local economy. We also offer a cooking class, you can choose from mole, tlayudas, salsa, tortillas and many other traditional plates. We think that there is no better place to have this experiences than with us, a local family who has strong Oaxacan traditions.
House Rules
1. To have guests it is necessary to let the hosts know and avoid strangers. 2. At home we have a dog, a parrot and a cat, it is important to us that they receive good treatment. 3. Designated smoking areas are the patio and outdoor areas. 4. We ask for a 20% payment in advanced for booking.
