Home away from Home
Overview
Our family has a lovely home and lots of experience dealing with and helping international students who decide to come to Canada to improve their English or further their education. Our home is accessible to many amenities that Toronto has to offer you such as enjoying our beautiful parks, malls, restaurants, bicycle trails, tennis courts, swimming pools, churches, gyms, libraries, schools and many more. Our neighbourhood is very safe with public transportation only a 3 minute walk away. Our major intersection is Pharmacy and Lawrence. Pharmacy Avenue is a 3 minute walk. And Lawrence is a 5 minute walk. Our home is 1 block North of Lawrence Avenue East. The closest subway stations are Victoria Park station and Warden station. You will be able to familiarize yourself with our TTC service very easily. Our home is 30 minutes away from the airport and only 30 minutes away from downtown Toronto. We are an outgoing, kind, and friendly family welcoming students into our home and treating them as members of our own family. We are a family of 5, my husband Dimitri and myself, Helen, have 3 children. Son aged 35 who has completed his studies in International Business; Son aged 33 completed his Masters at Queens University in Occupational Therapy; Son, aged 25, currently studying History and aspires to become a History Teacher and Social Worker. All 3 have ventured on their own. My loving parents live 2 houses away and my mother frequently comes by for visits. We have since had to say goodbye to our beloved best friend “Achilles” our 16 year old Siberian Husky. A total teddy bear and very loving. Will forever be remembered. Your accommodations will provide you with security and comfort….BUT ABOVE ALL….. the feeling of belonging to a family. You will become part of the family like a real homestay should be. House Rules
House Rules: • Keep your room tidy • Clean up after yourself, especially in the shared spaces • Be mindful of energy conservation and recycling • Keep your showers minimal (not long) • We do the laundry on weekend (A hamper is provided in your room). Laundry taken down on Friday night or if full earlier; a basket will be provided for you in basement for your clothing. I would be happy to accommodate any washing earlier in the week. We have no problem with you doing your own laundry if you wish. • If you are planning on not coming home (running late at school) it would be appreciated if you would let us know ahead of time; so that we can plan our day/week according to your schedule. With the same respect if you plan on being out with friends you meet at school we would like you to let us know where you will be going, in case of emergency, and when you plan on being home. A simple phone call would be appreciated or let us know in advance if you aware of your plans. If you choose to have a friend come over we would love to meet them. As such we would like to be home during these visits.
