Overview
There are 2 small dogs and 2 cats (all pets are indoor only). If you don’t like animals - you will not be a good fit here. The upstairs bedrooms share a bathroom (shower and jacquezzi -tub). . We are LGBT friendly. I have lived in this area for nearly 20 years and we have a large group of friends from different cultural and ethnic backgrounds. I am very easy-going and informal. I recently hosted a teacher from Japan for 2 months. He told me he loved the neighborhood, the park, the great weather, our house, pets and he was a musician who was able to feel comfortable practicing his singing and ukulele while he was here. He also mentioned that he really like the healthier foods we had available, as that was one of his concerns prior to his visit. Our neighborhood High School is Tustin High School. TUSD allows transfers to other Tustin High schools, based on a lottery system. No alcohol or drug-use. -Private, furnished bedroom - Yes -WIFI - Yes -Washer / Dryer - Yes -Meals - Any - We have a large gourmet kitchen that students are welcome to use. A couple of us are vegetarians, but then others eat meat. We are pretty healthy and eat a lot of locally grown fruits and vegetables year-round (because it is California)
House Rules
-This is our family home, you are our guest while you are here. -Clean up after yourself. (We do have our home cleaned professionally on a bi-weekly basis) -Common areas include downstairs, (kitchen, living room, dinning room, office/library, backyard, upstairs bathroom) All upstairs bedrooms are private. -STRICT! No partiers! If alcohol is consumed in our home or elsewhere, it must be consumed in moderation. We rarely drink alcohol and we will not tolerate any overindulge in alcohol. No drugs or drama people welcome. -Be respectful of our family and our neighbors. -We are heterosexual, but accepting and welcoming of any LGBT students. -Students of any (or no religion) are welcome, but you must be tolerant. We are not religious, but we are kind. It is very important that you are respectful of others, and do not have any extreme positions. -Sexism will not be tolerated in our house. Men and woman are treated equally - in terms of how we operate our household day-to-day, if you aren't aligned to that mindset, look for another homestay. -This is a family home, you are a guest while you are staying with us. Do not bring others into our home (exception is with prior permission from us) -Our pets are all indoor-only. Care must always be taken to ensure they are not let outside unintentionally and when the dogs are let out, they cannot be left out unattended. (Southern California has coyotes and while they are never a problem for humans, they eat small pets - we just take zero chances) -There is not a curfew per se, but it is important to be respectful and quiet of the family and neighbors.
