Overview
Welcome travelers! I am Baigal, the owner here at Baigal Guesthouse and Tours, mother and grandmother to a happy family, and I warmly welcome you into our home! LOCATION We are a family run guesthouse near the epicenter of Murun, within short walking distance of both the wrestling stadium and the black market. You can find us situated directly off the main westbound highway leading to and from Ulaanbaatar, only a few blocks from the bus station. A large conspicuous banner announcing our homestay adorns our front gate, near two conjoined supermarket buildings, so determining our location is a rather simple task! Just keep your eyes peeled to the right as you are entering town (heading from Ulaanbaatar,) and you should have no trouble in finding us. TOUR SERVICES Our bustling provincial capital serves as an ideal location from which expeditions and adventures can be staged into the northern taiga-bound mountainous sweep. We can arrange for you a variety of unforgettable experiences, including authentic local-led horse and walking treks, encounters with the illustrious reindeer people, kayaking forays out onto Khovsgol Lake, or bus tickets to wherever your causal wandering aspirations might lead you next. We would be delighted to custom tailor an itinerary suited to your specific travel inclinations. ENVIRONMENT We offer housing in a dormitory room containing eight bunkbeds, as well as in private Gers throughout our sunkissed courtyard, and three quaint A-frame structures. Take refuge under the shaded veranda near our little garden, or luxuriate in the heat emanating from the woodburning hearth within each Ger. Have a taste of our ambrosial homemade blueberry preserves with your circadian morning bread and tea, served with freshly laid eggs from our happy chickens. We have warmly illuminated Ger dedicated specifically to lounging and drinking coffee. Here you might find a silent and tranquil environment in which you can relax after the insomnia-ridden bus ride from Ulaanbaatar, or perhaps you will discover a sanctuary where you can lounge in the sanguine midafternoon glow with a cold beaded beer in your hand amidst a semicircle of smiling friends enveloped in the bliss of conscious life.
