Hi, I am Thea, a real Berliner who was born in East-Berlin in the 80s! I want to show you the non-touristy parts of the town which are still flying under the radar (i.e. Wedding, Marzahn, Lichtenberg). Of course a tour in my home area Prenzl`Berg should not be missing - after all, my childhood stories are all from there :)

Pickup

The meeting point is at the rear exit of Wedding S-Bahn station, exit Reinickendorfer Straße. I'll be standing right at the exit, at the foot of the stairs.

Description

Wedding – Creative diversity in the old working-class district

Wedding became known as a working-class district in the 19th century and has seen a lot since then. Come along and see how the area has changed over the past 150 years and how old factories and buildings from that era are now being used for art and creativity.

No district is as underrated as Wedding, which is so vibrant, authentic, full of contrasts and has so much to offer!

++ Highlights of the tour ++

  • Silent Green Cultural Quarter

The first crematorium in Berlin is now a popular venue for thinking, researching and experimenting

  • Gerichtsstraße 23

The workshops of the north are colorful and wild and offer plenty of space for art, cooking and communication

  • Panke

We discover the quiet and green sides of the district

  • Wiesenburg

A real insider tip that few Berliners know about – a living work of art!

  • Uferhallen and Uferstudios

Did you know that the first electric tram came from Berlin? Find out where it was built and where it started on my tour.

Who is this tour interesting for:
For anyone who wants to get to know Berlin better as a city and broaden their horizons beyond the Brandenburg Gate and Mitte district. Wedding can be rough and loud, but also tender, quiet, and very, very creative!
