Discover the medieval spirit of Chełmno
I’m interested in art history and architecture. I like cooking and entertaining. My dog Roxie is my best companion. She takes me out for long walks in nature.

Description
Step back in time and discover the secrets of Chełmno. The Gothic monumental architecture hides many relics from the past. Founded in 1233 by the Teutonic Order, Chełmno was a leading town in the Teutonic State and an important member of the Hanseatic League. Today, you can find Chełmno on the European Route of Brick Gothic.
There’s lots to see within the Old Town enclosed by the original medieval brick walls. During this GuruWalk we will see the following main attractions.
1. The meeting of the group takes place at
the market square next to the fountain.
2. Visit the XIII century Cistercian-Benedictine cloister, which, since 1822, belongs to the Sisters of Mercy.
3. Walk towards the Dominican church, on the way, a short stop by the former Franciscan convent.
4. Step outside the town walls and enjoy a short walk in the park, which once served as a moat.
5. Explore the park with the miniatures of Teutonic Knight’s Castles.
6. Return to the old town through the medieval gate and walk along the main street towards the Parish Church.
7. On display in the Parish Church one can admire St Valentine’s relics, housed in a custom-made silver reliquary dated 1630. From the church tower, one can see beautiful panoramic views of the town and in the distance the Vistula river.
8. The final stop is at the centre of the market square. There we can admire the beautiful Renaissance town hall, offering a striking contrast against the medieval red brick architecture. Inside, there is a regional museum you can visit on your own.
Book the tour, you won’t be disappointed.
