Greetings, lovely humans visiting my birthplace city! I am a young enthusiast of history, science, and much more, with a degree in History and Philology. I left Tirana to come live in Laç. As an old Albanian proverb says, “A heavy stone is heaviest in its original place.” (It sounds much better in Albanian.) :) One issue I’ve noticed with tourism, both here and in other countries, is the lack of true community interaction. Tourists often receive a curated experience that separates them from the real life of the city and its people. Locals tend to keep the “tourist version” separate, hiding the authentic parts of life that don’t fit the flashy, Instagrammable image. As your tour guide, I aim to take you beyond that surface. Together, we’ll explore the rich historical tapestry of Laç and Albania in its entirety. I speak fluent English and Italian, and I’ve worked in Albania’s growing tourism industry for three years now, especially near the stunning agriturismo “Lahuta e Vjetër.” I’ll do my best to be not only your guide through my chaotically beautiful country, but also your friend from a foreign misunderstood land. More than just sharing history or facts, my goal is to tell you the small, powerful stories, the ones that often go unnoticed and aren’t found online. The ones that move me deeply: tales of resilience, joy, hardship, and humanity during times of communism and poverty. Stories of bravery, sacrifice, and tradition that reflect how Albanians, past and present see the world. I want to offer more than just sights. I want to give you a taste of how it feels to live here.

We’ll kick off the tour at the stunningly beautiful Lahuta e Vjeter Agroturizëm a place where tradition, nature, and warm hospitality come together. You won’t miss me: I’ll be the one with long curly hair, sporty bike sunglasses, and ready-for-adventure hiking clothes. Just follow the good vibes.

Description

Step Into the Hidden Spirit of Kurbin
A Journey Through Time, Nature, and Faith

It begins at Lahuta e Vjeter Agroturizëm, where the air is fresh, the food rich, and the stories deep. You’ll be welcomed like family—because here, that’s how it’s always been. But don’t get too comfortable… adventure awaits beyond the stone walls.

We’ll walk along a quiet trail to a hidden canyon—peaceful, untouched. You’ll hear the wind, the birds, and maybe even the echo of forgotten legends.

Next, a 2000-year-old olive tree—older than most empires. Not just a tree, but a witness to centuries of Albanian resilience. We’ll pause in its shade and imagine the lives it’s seen.

Then, a visit to a Bektashi Teqe, where mysticism and history blend. You don’t need to be religious—just open-hearted. There’s a calm here that invites reflection.

As we return to town, you’ll hear stories of Laç—its pride, resistance, and sacred charm. Finally, we’ll ascend to the Church of Shna Ndou, perched high above. Miracle or not, this place makes everyone stop and reflect.
