Baroque Architecture Tour in Rural Galicia
Traveler, naturalist, and reader. I write when I can, and play music when I'm allowed to. I have a degree in art history and training in ecotourism. I currently live in the countryside, working the land and collecting stories from the rural periphery. I want to showcase the cultural richness of my community and learn in the process.
Pickup
I'll be waiting at the entrance to St. Peter's Church, wearing a blue cap and carrying a wooden cane.
Description
Do you like art history? Do you want to learn more about Galicia, the history of its towns, and the Galician rural Baroque? Then sign up for this guided tour led by a local art historian!
We will take a tour commenting on Baroque architecture in rural Galicia, using some monuments present in the area: starting from the parish church of San Pedro de Bealo, we will head towards the village of Insuachán, where we will be able to see small architecture such as hórreos or cruceiros , we will arrive at the church of San Xoán de Macenda, we will go down to the communal mountain of the place of A Galea, where we will be able to see the characteristic outeiros of granite stone, a place that was a literary emblem of the region and, finally, we will arrive at the famous chapel -and transept- of San Ramón de Bealo.
If possible, we will see the interior of the churches - in silence out of respect for the visitors.
