Description
Namaste, I am Ganesh Pandey, an independent tourist guide based in Kathmandu. The Hindu cremation walking tour is a sacred experience where tourists can watch open funeral tradition followed by intriguing rituals and ceremony based in Hindus culture. This fascinating ritual is performed at Pashupatinath temple in the heart of Kathmandu city. As a professional guide, I will be taking you to the temples from where we can watch this ceremony without disturbing the family of the deceased. It is a cultural tour to understand the local belief about death and meaning of religious rituals done at the funeral and its spiritual significance.
Other than watching cremation ceremony, you will be guided through 2000 years old Hindu temples and educated about Hinduism and its philosophy. You will taken to hermit caves and given chance to meet ascetic people who have been living life of a monk for more than 50 years.
