Greenwich Village : history of an artist enclave
Practicing artist, student of tech and computer art. Have lived in New York for going on 8 years. I love how I keep finding cool treasures in the city. I’m from Texas. I have been giving tours of art and architecture for 10 years, working at modern art museums as well as New York City guided tours.

Description
The West Village or Greenwich Village traces back to Dutch colonial times and became known for a center of writers and artists in the 1920s. We will explore this charming neighborhood and the history of New Yorks art scene. From 1950s beatniks to the Stonewall Riots in the 1960s.
We will meet in the garden at St. Luke in the Fields. I will have an umbrella. We will stop during the tour for coffee at one of the old beatnik coffee shops. The tour will take about 2 hours and will end near Washington Square.
