Description
What do you imagine the most famous Japanese neighborhood in São Paulo to be like? You probably think it has always been like this, but I have a surprise for you: the neighborhood is much more than just the Japanese community! Come and discover a little more of its history!
Places of interest:
- Pateo do Collegio: The "Pateo do Collegio" is a historical and religious complex located in the center of São Paulo, belonging to the Society of Jesus, the Jesuit order. This place was fundamental in the history of the city, which over time became one of the main capitals of the world.
- Praça João Mendes: Located in the historic center of São Paulo, near Sé, it marks the presence of the black community in the city.
- Praça da Liberdade: One of São Paulo's main landmarks, with a rich history and eclectic architecture. It houses museums, monuments, gardens and holds one of the milestones of Brazil's independence.
- Church of the Holy Cross of the Forsaken Souls: Located in Liberty Square, with a history linked to the death penalty.
- Capela Nossa Senhora dos Aflitos: The church was founded on June 27, 1779, in the center of the cemetery, which remains the same location and is still a popular pilgrimage center.
- Vila Portuguesa: Historic neighborhood of São Paulo, with preserved Portuguese colonial architecture, located near Liberty Square, with narrow streets and colorful houses.
