Description

Discover the soul of Birmingham on a tour of Digbeth, a characterful neighborhood where the industrial past intertwines with modern creativity.

This tour will take you through old factories and warehouses that, in the 19th century, witnessed the rise of the Industrial Revolution. You'll learn about the historical significance of the area, its iconic industries, and how Digbeth was the manufacturing heart of the city.

The tour begins at The Old Crown pub, Birmingham's oldest building still in use, dating back to 1368. This historic pub and inn is not only a symbol of local heritage, but also a place full of fascinating stories.

We'll step into the dynamic space of The Custard Factory, formerly a custard factory and now a vibrant hub of creativity.

Afterwards, we'll visit a stunning mural dedicated to John F. Kennedy, which pays tribute to the American president's legacy and his symbolic connection to Birmingham's Irish community.

We'll continue to the Red Brick Market, a unique space where small businesses and local creatives showcase their products, reflecting the city's diversity and entrepreneurial spirit.

Digbeth is home to galleries, boutiques, the film and television studio LOC Studios, and spaces like Arthaus and Fazeley Studios. These buildings, once churches, have been transformed into arts and cultural centers, preserving their historic architecture while embracing a new life as epicenters of contemporary creativity.

Please note that Free Tour doesn't mean "free," but rather "free of charge." Free tours incur a number of expenses, which are covered by donations made by guests at the end of the tour based on their satisfaction. Although a specific amount should never be required, guides may suggest a guideline based on typical expectations.
