Hello, travelers! I'm Manuel, a tour guide in Mérida's historic center for 6 years. My mission is that, at the end of the tour, you leave with a deep appreciation for the rich history of Mérida, formerly known as Tihó. From the most important moments to the oldest legends, I want every step through this city to make you feel connected to its culture and traditions. Throughout the tour, I will share recommendations on must-see places in Mérida and Yucatán, such as magical cenotes and archaeological sites steeped in history, so you can enjoy your visit even more and discover the best of the region. My goal is that at the end of each tour, you leave with an unforgettable experience and the desire to continue exploring everything this city has to offer. I also enjoy learning languages such as Italian, French, and German, which allows me to enrich my worldview and gain a closer understanding of different cultures.

Description

This tour is an invitation to walk through the center of Mérida, a place that has witnessed centuries of history, from the ancient Mayans to the Mérida of today. It's not just about seeing beautiful buildings, but about understanding what lies behind them: the stories, the people, the contradictions, what gives this city its soul.

We'll walk through streets where every corner has something to tell. I'll tell you about the ancient city of Tihó, the colonial era, the rebellions, the mixed race, but also about everyday life, about how people live today.

And then, the market. For me, the Lucas de Gálvez market is the heart of it all. Everything beats stronger there: the colors, the smells, the food, the people. We'll walk among rare fruits, herbs with curious uses, food stalls not mentioned in the guidebooks, and unique characters. We're not rushing, we're not here to buy souvenirs: we're here to look, to smell, to taste, to understand.

If you're interested in getting to know Mérida from a real perspective, from what isn't always shown, this is the tour for you.
Nothing formal, no rush. Just you, me, the city... and whatever happens.
