I was born and raised in Freo and have been in love with this place since I first set foot on the earth. I'm am avid history fanatic with a full-time job as an electrician. Recently come back from 4 months of traveling around Europe and experiencing the best of Guruwalk! The nooks and crannies are filled with my own personal history, at the end of the tour I send a list of all must do's that only locals know.

Pickup

Meet me by the statue of convicts in chains, in front of the Fremantle prison. I will be wearing a green hat and have a flag.

Description

A tour of Fremantle's history and sights. 
From colony and convicts transportation. The mass incarceration of convicts in the swan river colony, the escape stories of Irish Fenians. The great gold rush, race wars, indigenous subjugation.  To be the largest submarine base in the southern hemisphere during WW2. Now-days Freo is raising some of the most iconic musicians to date, what a rich and turbulent history.

  • Starting at the Fremantle prison.
  • Walking past the football oval.
  • Visiting artworks and statues in Walyalup Koort.
  • Walking past St Johns Church.
  • Walking past the submarine.
  • Through the whalers tunnel. 
  • Walking to the round house.
