Orange Umbrella Warsaw

Meet Orange Umbrella Team - together since 2011, we are a group of independent guides, true Warsovians (born and raised in Warsaw), history enthusiasts, language nerds, but first and foremost, local patriots, proud of our city and eager to share our passion with tourists, whom we often become during our frequent international journeys.

Pickup

By the Sigismund's Column, look for a guide holding an orange umbrella with a British flag on top. In case of a mass event such as parade/protest/concert happening at our usual meeting point (Sigismund's Column), the tour will be starting from beneath the red-brick medieval defensive wall situated 100 meters north of the Column.

Description

World War 2 tour explores the most important places related to dramatic war events:

  • Castle Square
  • A former Nazi-German district
  • Execution sites
  • Pilsudski Square (former Adolf Hitler Square)
  • The Jewish Ghetto.

You can't understand present-day Warsaw without knowing what happened here 80 years ago. Warsaw was among the cities which suffered the most during World War II.
The city and its inhabitants experienced the horror of bombings, and the terror of everyday life under the eye of the SS but also courageously fought in two uprisings: the 1943 Jewish Ghetto Uprising and the 1944 Warsaw Uprising.
