Description
We start at Cinelândia Square , the dream of "Time Square" with the beautiful City Theater , the National Library and the School of Fine Arts .
Along the road opened at the beginning of the 19th century we reach the Church of Santa Luzia (17th century), a symbol of resistance to great changes. The wide Esplanade of the Ministries (the former capital). The slope of Misericordio is the remains of the slope that gave access to the hill on which the city began to develop.
A panoramic view of Ilha Fiscal , a 19th-century customs post used to control goods entering and leaving the port of Rio, then the Empire's capital. Conceived as a small "castle" in Gothic-Provencal style, inspired by the imaginations of the French architect Viollet-le-Duc, with a project by Adolpho José Del Vecchio - highlighting the medieval towers and battlements to decorate the silhouette of the building.
Continue to Praça VX de Novembro, where the Queen of Portugal, Maria I of Portugal, and her family disembarked. The Palace and Church where her son Dom João was consecrated King of Portugal and his successors Pedro I and Pedro II were consecrated Emperors of Brazil. The Palace and Convent of the Carmelites, where a walkway facilitated the Queen's movement between the Palace, Convent and Church.
The narrow streets of the 17th century lead us to the Casa França - the former Brazilian customs house. cultural centers and the largest church in the country. Returning to the pedestrian boulevard, we continue from the Monument to the Olympic Flame , the Naval War Zone , to Praça Mauá , where the beautiful Museum of Tomorrow blends harmoniously with Guanabara Bay , its islands and the Rio Niteroí Bridge .
Still on the boulevard we will appreciate different street art . Ends at the famous Eduardo Kobra Etnias mural , 180 meters wide and 17 meters high, the largest mural/graffiti in the world!
