Sarajevo free walking tour: Gems of the city center
Hey there ð I'm Mensur and I am a full-time developer and part-time tour guide living in Sarajevo. It is the city where I grew up and I would love to show you my favourite spots. Whether you are interested in history, architecture, art or gastronomy I always aim to provide you with the information that will help you see the best of Sarajevo. I love traveling myself and I find walking tours the best way to get my bearings when I arrive in a new city. Learning languages is also a big passion of mine and therefore I can offer you tours in English, Spanish, German and hopefully Italian soon. I am looking forward to meeting you!

Description
We start the tour in the old part of town called BaÅ¡ÄarÅ¡ija. We meet next to the iconic fountain Sebilj where we will start the tour by talking about history of Sarajevo during the Ottoman era. There you will see the oldest buildings in Sarajevo which serve different purposes (places of worship, shops of local handicraftsman, public institutions).
From there we will walk to the part of town built during the Austro-Hungarian Empire. Considered as the city center, it is a neighbourhood where you can find museums, and places of worship, but also restaurants and public parks.
We finish the tour in the big city park across the street from the Aria Mall.
In this tour you will see:
- Sebilj
- BaÅ¡ÄarÅ¡ija
- Sarajevo City Hall
- Cathedral of the Heart of Jesus
- Sarajevo Synagogue
- Gazi Husrev-beg Mosque
- Eternal Flame Memorial
- Location where Franz Ferdinand was assassinated
- Ferhadija street
- Sarajevo Roses
- Academy of Fine Arts Sarajevo
and a few surprises...
If you want to visit it after the tour I will also show you locations of the following museums:
- Museum Of Crimes Against Humanity And Genocide
- Gallery 11/07/95 (public institution dedicated to preserving the memory of the Srebrenica genocide)
- Museum of Sarajevo
