Description
The Krakow ghetto has largely survived to the present day in almost the same appearance as it did at the end of the war. Not only a large part of the old houses, but also a large part of the institutional and organizational buildings. The area continues to give off the dramatic atmosphere of the days when it underwent the final settlement.
On this tour we will go extensively and deeply through the entire Krakow ghetto
How did the ghettos work and what were their purpose during the Nazi occupation? What characteristics did the Krakow ghetto have and what are its similarities with the rest of the ghettos in Poland?
We will analyze the day to day in the ghetto to end up visiting the famous "pharmacy under the eagle", one of the most important museums in the city on the subject.
On the whole, the district has retained its gloomy appearance. Most of the buildings look exactly the same as those of 1941-1943, which makes the Krakow Ghetto district a unique and one of the best preserved places for those who want to delve into one of the basic aspects of Nazi thought.
On the tour we will see:
- The two fragments of the wall
- Square of the heroes of the ghetto (square of the chairs)
- Important buildings (buildings for intellectual meetings, resistance, police agencies...)
- Location of the old gates
- judenrats
- labor organizations
- hospitals
- Prison
- Synagogue
- Factories
- Orphanages and much more!
The only tour of Krakow that covers the old ghetto in its entirety and by the hand of a historian. Are you going to miss it?
