Description

This tour is the best way to discover the oldest town of Bogotá, La Candelaria. Walk to the historic part of the city and one of the most vibrant districts in Bogota. While learning about the city's foundation, the diversity of the country, its independence, and modern times we will try some of our most delicious fruits, meals, and coffees. The perfect introduction to the city and the country's culture, in a mix of food, culture, history, and art.

  1. Plaza de los periodistas Cra.4 con Cl.13 10 min.You will learn about the significance of the mountains to the city from our guide. We will tell you why you should visit Monserrate. Lastly, you'll learn about the water channel that is filled with water from the Vicachá. In the middle of Monserrate and Guadalupe, this river begins.


2. Concordia market Cl. 12c #1-40 25 min.

Our meeting point and the introduction to Candelaria. In the market, you will have fruit and juice tasting and a look into the many different varieties of fruits.

3. Callejon del embudo Cra. 2 con Cl. 12c 10 min.

Here you'll see one of the most famous streets in Bogota. You will hear the story about Chicha, the traditional drink for indigenous communities, learn from the street art, and make some recommendations for restaurants and bars.

4. Chorro de Quevedo Cl. 12b #2-98 10min.

Here our guide will tell you the story of the native people of the territory that today is Bogota, the Muiscas. We will also talk to you about the foundation of Bogota by Gonzalo Jimenez de Quesada and the first Spanish people that arrived. Also, you will learn about the importance of this place today and why it is the heart of Candelaria. 

5. Cafe herencia or The heritage coffee Cra.2 #12c-37 20min 

You will receive tea in this cafe while our guide describes some of the native plants and their uses by indigenous communities. In addition, the guide will explain why an independent project such as this cafe is crucial to the local economy. We will also explain how they support small, sustainable producers from different regions of the country while preserving their culture, nature, and traditions..


6. Calle 10 Cl. 10 con Cra.4 10min.

In this street, you will see some of the finest well preserved colonial and republican houses. You will also see where the Bogota museum is, and have a look at one of the most scenic sights of Candelaria.


7. They Botero museum Cl.11 #4-41 10min

Our tour guide will explain why these streets are called cultural blocks. This is where the Botero museum is and why he is the most famous artist and the story behind the museum's foundation.


8. Puerta falsa Cl.11 #6-50 10min.

At this stop, we will teach you about the most traditional dishes of Bogota, such as Ajiaco and Tamal Santaferno. As well as recommendations for where to have them and where to explore the traditional gastronomy of the city.


9. Plaza de Bolivar Cra.7 con Cl.11 10 min.

12. Coffee experience y cierre 25 min

We end our tour here, with a coffee tasting and an explanation of why Colombian coffee is so famous. A barista tells you about the process and how to appreciate and recognize the high quality of our coffee. Our guide will stay with you and answer your questions or provide you with any recommendations you may need.
